Fire departments from the area responded to a fire at 7409 Commonwealth Avenue late Tuesday morning. According to county records the home belongs to the Sieberg family. (Correctly, it’s the Siebert family.)
EMS responders and neighbors said all residents escaped safely, but of multiple dogs in the home, not all were accounted for at the time. At least one, a boxer, was found and given oxygen and water by EMS first responders. Update: a post on social media said that all dogs were found safe.
A neighbor said the fire appeared to begin with an “explosion” of flames.
Update: Via City Manager Amber Withycombe, Fire Chief Pete Marsac said the cause of the fire hasn’t been determined, but will be passed on when it is.

Thank you to the amazing young lady next door who called 911 and rushed over to help rescue the dogs before the fire dept arrived. She managed to get one of them out while the firefighters managed to get the other three. Maplewood fire dept and all other municipalities that showed up.. thank you!
Please let us know if there is a GoFundMe set up to help this amazing family out.
Hi Julie.. so far we haven’t set a GoFundMe up yet. I know the neighbors are trying to do something and I have some friends who are trying to gather gift cards for them. My daughter lives with the Siebert’s, so this is why I’m responding. Lol.

It was amazing seeing all the hard working firemen from Maplewood and several of our neighboring municipalities rushing to save this home. My thoughts and prayers for the family and the heroes that put this out.
Siebert family!
Thank you, Doug, for the info, and for keeping us informed.
