I Scream Cakes is “aiming to open in two weeks,” co-owner Kerry Soraci said Wednesday at the Schlafly Farmers Market. Co-owner Mike McLaughlin confirmed that Thursday morning.
She said the shop needs a lot of painting. She also needs to pass two health department inspections — the building health department inspection, and a follow-up health department inspection for the final OK. Soraci will still make the ice cream at her original, Cherokee Street location, in south St. Louis.
I Scream Cakes in Maplewood will be between J&E Office City and Reeds American Table, at 7326 B Manchester Road.
Soraci will offer 16 flavors; most to be a surprise, she said, but one will be tea-flavored. She’ll also have Schlafly Oatmeal Stout cookies.
Owner of Traveling Tea, Kateri Meyer, was with Soraci at the farmers market. I Scream Cakes and Traveling Tea will be at the Tower Grove Farmers Market, opening its season on Saturday.
I’m hoping the ice cream will also be appealing to children, and affordable to them.
