It’s now official that the women’s sports-only sports bar, The Sports Bra, will be moving into the former Boogaloo location in Maplewood, at 7344 Manchester Road. The concept opened its first location in Portland, Oregon, in 2022, before franchising and expanding to Boston, Las Vegas, and Indianapolis, and now Maplewood.
KSDK and St. Louis Magazine reported on today’s announcement, and banners went into the spot’s windows today.
According to St. Louis Magazine the bar will focus on “local teams such as the St. Louis SLAM (five-time national champs in tackle football), Lou Fusz Athletic, and the Arch Rival Roller Derby, in addition to showcasing national leagues such as the National Women’s Soccer League, Women’s National Basketball Association, Professional Women’s Hockey League, and Athletes Unlimited Softball League.” And also collegiate women’s teams from local universities.
St. Louis magazine also reports that standard bar fare will be offered, as well as vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free, and dairy-free options.
40 South first posted the possibility of The Sports Bra moving into the former Boogaloo spot in July.

Women’s sports are the last bastion of amateur athletics. NCAA men’s sports are hard to get invested in. The rosters change every year as “student” athletes chase the greatest financial return. Since graduation rates remain much the same, I can only conclude that these sponsorship deals include personalized “tutoring”, “specialized” degrees, or maybe an easier academic path. $20.5M towards academic programs would have a greater impact on society than lining the pockets of football and basketball players. Only 1.6% of college athletes make it to the NBA, 2.6% max to the NFL and less than 1% to MLB. I prefer Caitlin Clark and an NA beer to watching professional league farm clubs and hopefully there is a substantial segment of our area that feels the same way. Best of luck Sports Bra.
The building The Sports Bra is planning to occupy has mismatched tuck pointing and iron brackets that serve as a reminder of the past. Using a St. Louis phrase, Hoosier or lacking sophistication. Right on Main Street. Maplewood, Business District, how can it ever grow? Downtown Maplewood could use some capital improvements! Js
Debbie Downer strikes again!
Sweet! Looking forward to checking it out.
Hope Maplewood can support both this place and The Post.
