Maplewood’s Kakao Chocolate is expanding to Clayton, in two steps.
The Centene Building, at 7700 Forsyth Boulevard, is their final destination but the lease hasn’t been signed yet. For now the Maplewood chocolatier has a temporary shop in Sips, a hair salon/coffee shop at 7818 Forsyth Boulevard.
Employee Barb Baue said the Sips location opened in January. The whole idea is to make it easier for their Clayton customers.
She said as soon as the weather warms up she’ll go door-to-door with chocolate to let Clayton businesses know Kakao is there.
No chocolate will be made at the Centene Building store — that will stay in Maplewood. Baue said the new space is at least as big as the Maplewood shop.
