Woman breaks picture frames, man assaults her: Both arrested

The following information was supplied by the Maplewood Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Thursday, Jan. 30

  • Police are investigating a delayed theft at a Maplewood Commons business that occurred on Jan. 22 and was reported on Jan. 30. The suspects stole approximately $171 in merchandise. The suspects have since been identified and police are trying to find them.
  • A 26-year-old woman was arrested for property damage. The suspect allegedly broke picture frames of an acquaintance who lives in the 7200 block of Lyndover Avenue.
  • A 22-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assaulting a woman in the 7200 block of Lyndover Avenue. The assault was a result of the earlier property damage involving the woman who allegedly broke picture frames.
  • A 20-year-old woman was issued a summons for leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident and no insurance. The accident occurred at the intersection of S. Big Bend and Oxford Avenue. An officer witnessed the accident and was able to stop the driver several blocks away who left the scene. No injuries were reported.

Saturday, Feb. 1

  • An unknown man subject shattered a vehicle window in the 2100 block of Bellevue Avenue and left before police arrived. Nothing was stolen. Police are investigating.
  • A 20-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of shoplifting merchandise from a Maplewood Commons business. The subject was additionally charged with giving false information to an officer for lying about his identity.
  • A 26-year-old woman and a 24-year-old man were arrested on suspicion of stealing merchandise from a Maplewood Commons business.

Sunday, Feb. 2

  • Police went to the 7400 block of Maple Avenue for a reported domestic disturbance.  An investigation revealed that two family members had been arguing. No charges or arrests were made.
