Rock Hill will have a new Italian restaurant on Monday.
With the help of a successful Kickstarter campaign this spring, restauranteur Katie Lee raised $42,827 to help build Katie’s Pizza and Pasta, at 9568 Manchester Road in Rock Hill. The doors open at 11 a.m. for lunch Monday. There’s a happy hour from 4-6.
All the pasta, pizza dough, sauces and burrata cheese are made from scratch.
“We have a lot of cooks here that we’ve trained who have never seen this much from scratch before; all our desserts, everything,” Lee said.
Gluten-free pizza, pasta and salads are also on the menu. The wood-fired oven, at temperatures close to 800 degrees, cooks pizzas in under two minutes.
The south-facing patio will be open for dining, and a neighboring patch of green space may become a garden spot for Lee to grow ingredients for her sauces and pizza toppings.
Lee’s first restaurant, Katie’s Pizza, in Clayton remains open, though it was listed for sale in June for $1 million.
