An O’Fallon, IL, man was charged on Feb. 29 for thefts from the Maplewood Walmart in January, to support his drug habit, according to police and court records.

On Jan. 27 Terry Lee Thomas, 43, selected video games and a Canon Rebel digital camera, and used a screwdriver (which he has  taken from the hardware department) to pry open the security packaging of the video games. He hid everything inside a backpack and walked to the exit, where he was stopped. He confessed, saying that he planned to sell the goods to his drug dealer for heroin and cocaine.

Reviewing video, security personnel determined that he had stolen merchandise on three previous occasions: Jan. 12, valued at $591; Jan. 25, valued at $789; and Jan. 26, valued at $429. Thomas was held on $7,500 bond.
