Phase 3 of the Manchester Road improvement project in Maplewood is set to go to bid on March 22, according to MoDOT on Twitter. The project runs from Bredell Avenue to S. Hanley Road.

In July 2014 Maplewood officials agreed to use $600,000 of $1.2 million the city is receiving from its Hanley Road TDD (Transportation Development District) to pay for the improvements. A federal grant will cover the rest. Manchester is a state-owned road. The project was due to begin in 2015.

The work is the final phase of improvements to Manchester Road in Maplewood. It includes repaving and installing sidewalks from Bredell Avenue to Hanley Road and installing a left turn lane at Laclede Station Road.

    • Gary – I understand that’s an expensive project and the funds aren’t there. I think it includes a new bridge.

  1. I’d rather see Big Bend repaved from Webster Groves to Hwy 40. It’s an awful road, and seems to get worse after each winter.

  2. My question is, will the construction of the new fire house effect the street/sidewalk where it is going. Will the construction start before Phase 3 gets started???

  3. I’d rather see a road diet with added bike lanes and large sidewalks but I guess anything is an improvement.
