H&R Block provides tax preparation services for its clients for current and previous tax years and has been serving the Maplewood area at its office in the Deer Creek Shopping Center for over 20 years.
H&R Block, the company, was founded in 1955 in Kansas City by Henry and Richard Bloch and has grown into a nationwide brand of tax preparation with offices throughout the country. H&R Block now prepares 1 in every 7 U.S. tax returns. H&R Block offers year-round service to serve its clients whenever they have tax needs.
Can you tell us a little bit about your Maplewood location?
H&R Block has been in the Deer Creek Shopping Center for over 20 years and has prepared tax returns for many area clients who return year after year. We have a team of 8 dedicated tax professionals who can prepare all levels of tax returns from personal returns to business returns including complex returns that involve real estate, rental property, self-employment taxes and retirement.
Experienced tax professionals like Kathleen Gallagher, Pat Leggat, June Lopretta, Eric Parnell and Calla White have over 100 years of combined tax preparation experience and some individually have been doing taxes for H&R Block for over 26 years.
What is the most exciting thing happening right now in your business?
With January upon us, we are now ready to help our clients prepare their tax returns for the 2013 tax year as well as previous years.
2013 was a challenging tax year and we look forward to helping new and returning clients sit down and review their tax documents so they can get every tax break they deserve. We also offer drop-off service for clients who are on the go and would like to drop off their documents and make a later appointment to review the prepared return with their tax pro.
We also offer a Free Second Look for those who have previous years returns done by other tax preparation services that they would like us to review and see if they received all the tax breaks they deserved. If we find additional money they should get back, H&R Block can file an amended return for that year.
What do you like about being in business in Maplewood?
We have such nice clients return to us every year and it is fun catching up with the changes in their lives. We are also excited by the big changes over the last year at the Deer Creek Shopping Center which has added dozens of new stores and is now a wonderful place for Maplewood and other area shoppers to come to shop for clothes, have a bite to eat and stop by H&R Block and have their tax return prepared.

Nope..the Maplewood Chamber of Commerce features one business each month to spotlight-this month was H&R Block. With tax season approaching, I thought it was appropriate to post their profile on this forum
