Maplewood History: The Flavin Family

I’d like to close out the year with a salute to one of the many great families that have called Maplewood their home.  These photos were collected by the now defunct Renaissance Society for the 75th anniversary of our town in 1983.
I digitized these photos from the original slides in the collection of the Maplewood Public Library.

I have no other information about this family than these photos and the notes accompanying them so my hat is off to whomever allowed us to have this glimpse of the Flavin family.

And finally what has to be my favorite historic Maplewood people photo. A man identified as father William Bartley displaying his Maplewood charisma at full strength. His wife, Chaillie Bartley is in the photo too but it's anybodys guess which one of the enamored females she is. Now hwo wouldn't want to belong to a family like this? Happy New Year, Folks.

  1. Doug, The correct address is 7435. Porch is on the wrong side and roof view of next door house indicates the scanned images are flopped left to right. Slides should be turned emulsion up on the scanner to read right, but Photoshop would be the solution now. :>)

    • Doug, Thank you very much for that information. I’ve made the corrections. The baby shower might have been at the home at 7430 Flora. No way of knowing.
