7228 Moller Avenue will have a second hearing.

In October, neighbors of 7228 Moller Avenue, in Maplewood, were upset to discover that the city had held a ‘nuisance hearing’ for the house—vacant for two years—and was set to demolished it. Now a second hearing has been scheduled.

The demolition order from the first hearing expired Nov. 3. The second hearing is scheduled for January 14 at 3:30 p.m. at Maplewood City Hall.

Lori McElvain, who lives next door to the house, said in an email that several neighbors, including a potential buyer may come to the meeting.

Part of the problem was that no one seemed to know who owns the house. County records state Bank of America owns it, which the bank had denied.

  1. This a very sad. My sister lived in this home and took good care of it. Unfortunately the job market and over payment on the house didn’t allow her stay there. However, they could have let her continue to live and take care of it these past two years. Such a waste….for maplewood and her neighbors.

  2. My husband and I tried so hard to buy this house about 18 months ago. We got beat out by the winner due to a mix up by the agent. We later found out about all the title issues that forced the buyer out. We had hoped to keep an eye out for any word on whether or not the issues cleared up or not. Sad because the inside was ready to go. This would be a great rehab. I hope it gets resolved.

  3. I would be interested in this home. Can you connect me with the number for more information? If there is no owner identified how can the city just tear the house down?
