The Maplewood Citizens Academy, a series of meetings with city department heads for residents, on Wednesday used the same simulator that police officers use to learn how to react to a dangerous situation, from domestic violence calls to traffic stops where the suspect turns out to be armed.
They learned it’s not easy to walk into a potentially dangerous situation with a pistol, taser and flashlight, deciding on the spot to talk or to use force, and what kind of force.
