A Salvation Army bell ringer from the Maplewood Corps did a 30-hour marathon shift at the Richmond Heights Schnucks, hoping to get closer to their $50,000 goal, KSDK reported.

Lt. Amanda Keene arrived at 3 p.m. Dec. 15 for the mission she called “30 Hours of Giving.”

“Why am I doing this? I don’t know, I was asking myself that same question this morning,” she told KSDK. If she went the extra mile, maybe others would, too, she hoped.

Through the weekend Keene said she raised more than $5,000.
