Mark D. Wilson, 53, filed to run for mayor of Brentwood on Tuesday, and announced his campaign. He’s one of four running. Wilson sent a press release to 40 South News.

“I was raised in Brentwood. This is where I went to school, we returned to raise our family, and have lived for the last 20 years. I care deeply about this city, and so, encouraged by family and friends, I have decided to run for Mayor. I want to spend my time continuing to make this great city an even better place to live.”

Wilson has a long history of community and civic engagement in Saint Louis and Brentwood, and has already earned the support of various community and political leaders.  “I have known Mark for decades and not only is he a good man, but he also has the vision and business experience to lift Brentwood even higher,” said Brentwood Alderperson Cindy Manestar.

“I am really excited about the prospect of being part of the positive success and renewal of our community.  I believe we can build upon the current group of leaders to bring a new energy, transparency, and vision of looking firmly forward to develop Brentwood’s future.  My immediate goals include:

  • The responsible economic development and revitalization of existing commercial areas (e.g. Hanley, Manchester)
  • Implement common sense principles of educated and disciplined planning and cost
  • Reinforce our dedication to the BPD and BFD to ensure they have resources and tools to effectively and safely perform their duties;
  • Enhance our relationships with the School District and other community partners to make sure we are accomplishing the most for our community.

I believe my management experience within both the public and private sectors provide me the unique leadership skills and diplomacy necessary to help guide this renewal.”

Wilson, a graduate of Drury University in Springfield, MO, has a distinguished professional career from his work with Frito Lay, Inc., 18+ years as an executive at Anheuser-Busch, Inc., and his most recent role as EVP of Talon Partnerships & Events Worldwide based in New Canaan, CT. He has been married to wife Lora for 23 years, and the couple has one 11-year-old son Cole who attends McGrath Elementary School.

Wilson has set up a website for his campaign.
