Mayoral candidates ask aldermen to put forum video on city website

The candidates for mayor of Brentwood, Patrick Toohey, Mark Wilson and Chris Thornton (in ballot order) will take part in a League of Women Voters forum Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the Brentwood School District Conference Center (1201 Hanley Industrial Court).

City Administrator Bola Akande said city resources can’t be used to video the event because it’s not a city event, so the candidates arranged to have a professional photographer do the job.

The candidates, and residents, hope the video can be posted on the city website, along with board of aldermen meeting and other city-related videos, but that’s also questionable.

The candidates sent an email to the members of the board of aldermen the first week of March asking that it be considered, but when the agenda for the March 16 meeting was posted recently, it wasn’t there.

If the video isn’t allowed on the city website the candidates said they would find another place for the public to view it. There is a possibility it will be on 40 South News approximately within a day of the forum.

  1. If you can’t figure out a way to have a video publicly available in 2015 you probably shouldn’t run a city.

  2. I understand that it was in the Bylaws or Structure when Brentwood TV came into being15+ years ago. Maybe someone should call Bola to review this before the BOA meeting tommorrow. It should be put up for a vote.

  3. That’s pretty odd about not using city property for personal stuff. I’ve seen empty Brentwood pick-up trucks as far south as 55 and Butler Hill Road and as far north as Hazelwood. And some city cars that have been sold to ‘insiders’ for less than their blue book cost.

The excuse is a bunch of hooey.
