Maplewood Richmond Heights baseball coach Jonathan Webb has three relatives that played on a South St. Louis baseball team that included Yogi Berra and Joe Garagiola.
Webb has the original of this photo that he sent 40 South News. Berra died on Sept. 23.
It’s the 1942 City Champion “Edmonds” team. Webb included these notes:
Yogi Berra is sitting in the front row, far left. Standing in the back row, far right is my grandfather, shortstop Roy Fleddermann. Seated directly in front of him is my great uncle, pitcher Wayne Fleddermann. Standing in the middle of the back row is the coach and my great-grandfather, Roy Fleddermann, Sr.
Not pictured here, but also a member of this team, is Joe Garagiola, who caught for the Cardinals from 1946-51.
