A party at Saratoga Lanes on Wednesday to celebrate the end of shooting a segment for the Cooking Channel at Tiffany’s Diner drew about 75 people, including the film crew, according to spokesperson Sheila Rowland.

IMG_1139“They bowled, they drank beer, they had a blast,” Rowland said. “No one had ever done anything like this for them before.”

It was also a silent auction fundraiser for a new neon sign for Tiffany’s Diner (7402 Manchester Road). Rowland is working with the city on the design. The city didn’t accept her first proposal — a vertical two-sided sign on the second floor above the diner.

Tiffany’s Diner regular Donny Blake was the MC for the night. The celebration was also a birthday party for Tiffany’s Diner cook/waitress Daisy May — celebrating her 83rd birthday.

“When we sang Happy Birthday to Daisy, she got up and sang with the microphone trying to sound like Marilyn Monroe,” Rowland said.

Another party is planned in November or December when the segment airs on the Cooking Channel.

  1. Now I’m against a new sign. Their old sign is perfect.

St. Louis has a tradition of tearing down perfectly good things (like Busch stadium), to spend huge fortunes on crappy replacements (current stadium). Just saying.
