After five years as Maplewood Richmond Heights superintendent, Dr. Bonita E. Jamison has accepted the superintendent position in the Hazelwood School District. She has the following statement to the MRH community:

Dear MRH Community,

Serving as Superintendent of Maplewood Richmond Heights over the past five years has been one of the most meaningful chapters of my life. I am deeply grateful to the Board of Education for entrusting me with this role, especially under the leadership of former Board President Katie Kaufmann, who saw something in me as a first-time superintendent. That belief helped shape my journey, and I will always carry it with me.

During my time in MRH, I have had the privilege of growing alongside an incredible community, one that I often reference as a community of care. I have built lasting relationships with students, staff, families, and community members, and I am so proud of the work we have done together. From strengthening student outcomes to creating spaces where both students and adults feel supported and valued, this has truly been a collective effort rooted in care and commitment.

After much reflection, I have accepted the opportunity to serve as Superintendent in the Hazelwood School District. This was not an easy decision, as MRH holds a special place in my heart. It is, however, an opportunity to continue this work on a larger scale and impact even more students and families.

Please know that my commitment to MRH remains strong. I will continue to serve faithfully through the end of the school year. This community has poured into me in ways I cannot fully express, and I will forever be grateful for the opportunity to lead and learn here. It has been an honor to serve you, and MRH will always be a part of me.

With gratitude,

Dr. Bonita E. Jamison

  1. Wishing her the best! Sounds like a win for her-closer to home and a bigger district which is more opportunity for making change.
