The Maplewood Knights of Columbus used the lot at Schaefer Shell for approximately 20 years for its BBQ fund raisers. Since the lot has been sold and Schaefer Shell is gone the KoC was forced to move too.
The new BBQ location, for this year, will be the parking lot east of Citizens National Bank, across Oakview Terrace.
The BBQ dates are April 9, May 14, June 11, September 10 and November 5. The BBQs run from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. or until they run out.
Maplewood Knights of Columbus Grand Knight Peter Meatte thanked Schaefer Shell on Facebook for the years of selling BBQ on the lot.
I, Peter Meatte, as the Maplewood Knights of Columbus Grand Knight and as a customer of Schaefer Shell will miss Gene, Joe, David, Justen, Timmy, Mike, Jim, Corey and all the rest of the guys. The many years of BBQs and all the help they gave us over 20 some odd years. We could not find a better bunch of people to have the pleasure to work with. I personally will miss the morning coffees and joking around with everyone over the years.
To Gene, Joe, and the crew WE WILL MISS YOU GUYS SO MUCH AND THANKS FOR THE YEARS OF FUN.

I am glad Citizens National Bank of Greater St. Louis, has stepped up and has given the Maplewood Knights of Columbus the availability of the parking lot for their BBQ’s . I have always loved the BBQs and their burgers (to me) are to die for. I love them. Thank you, for stepping up to fill the void that was made….(just one thing) by Shell not renewing their lease. Now it’s just too bad, that it is a secret of who is going to be on that corner……oh well, guess that is how things work in Maplewood sometimes…….
