The Brentwood Fire Department Thursday morning took delivery of a new Pierce brand pumper truck, at a total cost of approximately $800,000, according to Fire Chief Ted Jury in the September Public Safety Committee meeting, when he made the recommendation.

The new fire truck has a remotely controlled deluge gun, a light tower to light the scene (also remotely controlled), a wireless headset for the driver to communicate with all firefighters, the ability to fill firefighters’ air bottles on the scene, and rescue tools stored in the front for easy access.

Firefighters Friday said training to use the new truck will go through April, and it will go into use in May.

The current pumper, bought in 2002, will become a reserve.
