A new bakery specializing in French pastries is set to open this summer.

Well-traveled chef, Summer Wright was given the OK by the Richmond Heights City Council Monday to operate her own bakery within Parker’s Table, at 7118 Oakland Avenue. She’ll be renting the space from Jon Parker, owner.

“When you’re an employee for a restaurant you have to go through their vision, and now I get to do my own thing, and express where I’ve worked, and where I’ve traveled, and what interests me,” Wright said. “Instead of finishing somebody else’s sentence, I get to be the sentence.”

Parker said to expect lots of French pastries and some breads.

Wright baked for Five Bistro when they were in the Grove, Niche Restaurant at Benton Park, Brasserie in the Central West End, and over the past year at Pizzaiolo, in Oakland, CA.

“It’s just really exciting because that complements the whole cheese section that we do, wines and beers, and pastas and things,” Parker said. He also said this is “why we’re not going in a corn dog direction anymore.”
