The 40 South News editor spends time on foot in the Maplewood business district. Here’s a few tidbits culled from here and there.

There was one shop left to buy Coffee Crawl tickets on Thursday afternoon.

World’s Fare Ice Cream — made by a Maplewood resident who hopes to retail here it in about a year — will be served at Earth First Solar at the Coffee Crawl.

photo 2Flying Tiger Motorcycles took delivery of a Royal Enfield Cafe Racer this week. They also have two new Stella scooters (125cc, automatic). Vintage Bike Night premiers for the year Monday night on the Bottleworks parking lot.

Turner Center for the Arts has moved from the 3100 block of Sutton Boulevard to 7190 Manchester Road, and love their new space, according to executive director, Sheila Suderwalla . No word yet on anyone moving into their old space.

A Pizza Story still plans to open sometime in April. An old, red landline telephone has been installed. It’s not for reservations — they’re not taking them.

Cafe on the Park is close to where it was a week ago with its Kickstarter. It’s at $640 raised with 11 backers, and 19 days remaining to reach $7,000.

Pantera’s Pizza (7222 Manchester Road) is hiring drivers, cooks, counter help, door hangers and a part time manager.

A barista who’s been taking care of morning business at Stone Spiral since it opened left town Thursday to manage a bowling alley in Davenport, Iowa, for a year. The other regulars are still behind the counter.

Scheidt Hardware has been closed all week, and will reopen on Saturday.

Schlafly Bottleworks has one of the birthday cakes that celebrate the 250th birthday of St. Louis.

  1. Oh, please not my Stone Spiral café—It is the best coffee house since ‘rich’ people bought out Greenwich Village. I love the staff and atmosphere. i’ll go anyway because the food is good and the tea is always hot!
