Brentwood Chief of Police Dan Fitzgerald reported a home burglary that took place Saturday afternoon on his Brentwood police blog, The Chief’s Desk.

At about 4:45 p.m. on Saturday police received a call for a burglary in progress at a home in the 9400 block of Pine Avenue, he reported. The homeowner pulled into his driveway as the burglar was leaving his home. The burglar’s vehicle was in the driveway also.  The suspect left the scene. No one was injured. Witnesses gave a detailed description of the suspect and his car.

A short time later, after the department had put out a description provided by witnesses, the car was seen in north St Louis County. The suspect was arrested and put in custody at the Brentwood Police Department.

Items taken from the home were found inside the suspect’s vehicle. Fitzgerald said charges will be filed with the St Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s office.

Update: Sunday afternoon the St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s office charged Farland Gillehan, 52 years old, of St. Louis County with second degree burglary and stealing over $500 in connection with the burglary on Pine Avenue. Gillehan is being held at St. Louis County jail on $25,000 bond.

      • Patty, this is one “nailed it perfectly” comment you made. The “news” only broadcasts negatives about No. STL. That is so wrong. For years i was an election supervisor and requested to be placed in North areas. I met many people who initially saw me as white, and a few fangs came out. After speaking with people and showing true respect for their equal likeness in God’s Image, I don’t know where i have met more tender or care-filled people. I miss that job and the people. but my back cannot withstand the 6AM-10PM hours, even for one day. Thank you Patty for making this an issue–this is the first i have read about it. In gratitude, maureen

    • This comment is specifically for Dave. Pal, i have a human flaw of becoming a viperous snake who bites when provoked. I am VERY glad i do not know or respect you for hiding who you are. Don’t post like this again.maureen
