A man is missing following a reported domestic violence involving a knife in the 7200 block of Stanley Avenue in Maplewood just before 7 a.m. this morning. Maplewood police say he is not armed and poses no threat to the community.

Maplewood Detective Sergeant Matt Nighbor said when officers responded to the reported stabbing only the woman was there, and was taken in for questioning.

The other party, a man, was apparently injured in the dispute, based on what police found on the scene, and had left. Nighbor said he doesn’t know the severity of the man’s wounds.

“He is the injured party in this — that’s our understanding. We’re trying to locate him, because we don’t know any more than that,” Nighbor said.

Nighbor said there is no alarm to the community. “There is no one at large that we’re looking at with a weapon.”

Maplewood Richmond Heights Elementary didn’t have recess or classes outside today as a precaution.
