A St. Louis Post-Dispatch review of Brentwood’s relatively new Bonefish Grill—opened in October—is similar in one way to the Riverfront Times’ review: each recommended only one dish.

The RFT liked the Bang Bang Shrimp. The Post-Dispatch liked the lobster bisque because it’s “properly prepared, well seasoned and, best of all, you can be in and out of the place in five minutes, tops.”

It describes the seafood at Bonefish as “edible intellectual property that happened to live in the water.”

According to the Post-Dispatch:

  • Bonefish Grill’s signature Bang Bang Shrimp deserves not even one bang, if it’s referring to spiciness.
  • The Singapore Calamari is “chewy squid battered, fried and served with a generically sweet and mildly spicy sweet-and-spicy sauce.”
  • The pot stickers are “underseasoned, undercooked.”
  • The mahi mahi was “decent”, “but the sauce lacked any punch.”
  • It might be a stretch it to call the Cold Snap Fresh Ceviche a ceviche.
  • The side dishes are “perfunctory”.
  • The kitchen “obliterated” the American Kobe Beef Burger by cooking it well-done.
