Robbery suspect, "Blue Robbing Hood" has hit gas stations in Brentwood and Maplewood.

Police departments in Brentwood and Maplewood are among area agencies investigating about a dozen robberies at gas stations over the past few weeks, which may be related.

The suspect has walked into a gas station and asked to buy something inexpensive. When the clerk opens the cash register he grabs the money and runs, STL Today reports.

Police gave the robber the nickname “Blue Robbing Hood” because he committed his crime wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt, though since then he’s changed what he wears.

Maplewood Police Sgt. Matt Nighbor said the Maplewood department has determined that a robbery at a gas station in the 3000 block of Hanley Road Friday night is related to the others.

He said another, which occurred Wednesday night, is still under investigation.
