Maplewood will soon have its second shop dedicated to vapor cigarettes. Vaporized, a vapor cigarette shop at 12158 St. Charles Rock Road, in Bridgeton, is opening its second location at 2664 Big Bend Boulevard in Maplewood.

Maplewood Design and Review approved the business’s sign at its last meeting and it’s up now. See also: Gus’s Fried Chicken, Robata plan additions: design and review agenda

Maplewood’s first e-cigarette shop, Mape Vape Emporium Lounge, opened in September on Manchester Road.

The Maplewood Vaporized shop will open soon, according to the Vaporized website.

  1. Stay classy, Maplewood! It fits right in with the QT and Whitey’s! How about a check-cashing place, too?

    • You need to get off of the Big Bend corridor to find the classy establishments in the Maplewood. We have plenty of ’em. Big Bend is just a shortcut from South County to Clayton for thousands of cars each day, which is why QT, McD’s and Tim Hortons love that corner. I prefer Foundation Grounds, Bottleworks and Great Harvest. Agree though, not a big fan of e-cig shops. Have a feeling they will run their course.

  2. so Maplewood approves e-cig shops but not snuggle therapy business. I’m not a fan of either being in my neighborhood, but fair is fair… Seems the business that got approved is far more dangerous than the one that didn’t.

    • Lol you are a joke. What is dangerous about helping others quit smoking? In fact, I want you to do your research and find one medical study that proves ecigs to be dangerous. There shouldn’t be a problem with a business such as this. Mapevape has some of the most relaxed, informed workers that enjoy helping others quit smoking tar and 500 other ingredients. Ejuice only has 3-5 ingredients that are mostly natural and not harmful. McDonalds is what you should be worried about as obesity rises.

      • To clarify on e-cigarettes…. As of recent, the medical community has not made an official ruling on the benefit of e-cigarettes and smoking cessation. From ongoing studies, they are leaning toward the idea there is a possible benefit to help quit smoking. However, e-cigs are not a first line treatment option from your medical provider when it comes to smoking cessation. You can expect more data to be published in a year from now, particularly given the big money market, but long term effects will not be known for some time.

While e-cigs may prove beneficial in helping quit smoking, they should not be mistaken as something that is healthy, especially for people who do not use tobacco products. E-cigarettes contain a cloud of nicotine-carrying vapour. Nicotine in itself is not regarded as carcinogen, but that does mean it is safe or without consequences. The decreased nicotine level may lead to some users to extend the length of time they are inhaling the vapors and effects of this are not known. Also, most types of e-cigs contain propylene glycol.

With smoking rates dramatically decreasing in the past 20 years, one of the major concerns is that e-cigarettes may appear as a safe option to teens and early 20 year olds who have not previously smoked, which could ultimately undue much of the hard work that has been done to decrease tobacco usage.
