On May 29, John C. Stiles, 39, of St. Louis was seen concealing merchandise from a Maplewood Commons business, according to Maplewood Police. When loss prevention officers contacted Stiles about the suspected theft he displayed a knife to the officers.

Stiles left the building with the property, and Maplewood Police soon located and arrested him. There were no reported injuries.

Warrants were issued May 30 for Stiles through the St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for robbery in the first degree and armed criminal action.

Stiles was also charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and making a false declaration for lying to officers about his identity. He is currently being held on a $20,000 bond.

This information was supplied by the Maplewood Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.
