The property at 8212 Manchester Road, where the Sports Attic stood until it burned on Cardinals opening day April 2012, has been sold for $80,000 to Brentchester LLC, according to St. Louis County real estate records. It was listed for $125,000.

Brentchester LLC was formed on Aug. 6, 2014, according to Missouri Secretary of State records.

Representative of Brentchester, Ken Aston, said the company has plans to build and lease on the site. He said Taco Bell is one of the companies that has expressed interest.

The seller, Joe Droege, said he had a buyer, at $160,000 last year, who backed out when he realized that a new building would need to meet building codes for a flood zone. Droege said the site had never flooded.

The last recorded sale was on Oct. 2, 2003, for $560,000.

  1. With that patch of land on Manchester from Hanley west designated as flood and extra expense added to anyone who wants to put a biz there, we can’t make that area look good. I agree with folks from other communities who pass though who say it looks ugly – it is ugly. Guess we can make both sides of Manchester into dog parks and barren land. I voted for Promenade – it was to take some homes out and put new businesses in – AND keep prop taxes down. Mine quadrupled .Why can’t we use this tax $$ to fix Manchester and those businesses so that it is no longer a flood plane. Guess we could just no longer allow new housing and no new selling. That way we don’t have to worry about the mines beneath us, and just total commuter land and community. The fight for a better Brentwood has exhausted me – my family has been here for nearly 60 years – and my energy has sapped – at least this week.

  2. This stretch of Manchester between Hanley and Brentwood is ugly as well as embarrassing. Brentwood would be well served by flattening everything on both sides of Manchester Rd between Hanley and Dorothy then starting all over again.
