Four area students have been recognized, including a student at Fontbonne University, an adult who got her degree after years of online classes, and two scholar athletes.
Dawn Sorgea, of Brentwood, was recently initiated into Phi Kappa Phi, the nation’s oldest and most selective collegiate honor society for all academic disciplines, according to a press release. Sorgea was initiated at Fontbonne University. Membership is by invitation and requires nomination and approval by a chapter. Only the top 10 percent of seniors and 7.5 percent of juniors, having at least 72 semester hours, are eligible for membership.
Maplewood resident, Kristin Schultz, was awarded a B.A. in organizational management from Concordia University, Nebraska. Schultz completed her degree over the past 14 years. She said she did most of it online, taking classes when she could.
Also this week, Lucas Jones, of Brentwood, and Rich Rassmussen, of Maplewood Richmond Heights were named St. Louis Post-Dispatch Scholar Athletes.
