The city of Brentwood posted on Facebook on Friday that the American flag won’t fly in front of City Hall this weekend — problems with lights is the reason.

“Due to technical difficulties with exterior lights at Brentwood City Hall, all American flags will be taken down until Tuesday, July 5th. According to US Flag Code, American flags cannot be flown at night if they are not properly lit. In observance of this rule, the city will be temporarily removing all flags outside of City Hall until the lights can fixed after the holiday weekend.”

  1. Before the lights were installed the fire department raised and lowered the flags. Many years ago I gave Chief Neimeyer a Marine Corp Bulletin on flag etiquette.

    • If the Fireman or Policeman decided to do this on the own time they would have to be sure they were not wearing any Brentwood apparel so as not to get suspended of fired!

  2. So why didn’t one of the police officers simply raise the flag in the morning and take it down in the evening? That would have been a very simple solution!

  3. Carolyn and Amy I take it you are not writing about me but Maureen Wheat.

  4. OMG. How hard is it to install a spotlight. You can buy kits at Lowes, Home Depot, Ace Hardware or Menard’s. They are a jiff to set up. I have two of them. Another case of out government sitting on there royal behind doing nothing. No ingenuity these days!

  5. Wow. Get off your lazy ass and go take the flag down at sunset. Sounds like a great way to bill overtime and be patriotic.

  6. When was it discovered the lights were not working? It had to be last Friday or before becasue Brentwood posted Friday on Facebook the lights were not working. Why wait until after the holiday to fix the lights. Mayor there is not excuse for not having the lights fixed friday, Saturday, or at least by sunset today. The men and women fighting under the flag don’t stop fighting because Brentwood’s lights are not working. Call the electrician and have them fix the lights now. This is a disgrace to the flag and our forefathers and slap in the face to our troops. I don’t want excuses I want action.

    • @Jack Bock: I agree with your post in it’s entirety. But i am no longer offended at disrespecting the flag under bo. If anything the flag should have been flown upsidedown, to show the reality of our country of lawlessness. I am waiting, under the protectorate of God, for our country to be restored to our original USC&Am. I am waiting for our military to get proper orders—not snickering Hillary calling on her status on the CIC. I am waiting for our military veterans to be addressed in reverence —-NOT s*** while the politicians get fat. I am waiting for the laws of the land to apply BOTH to governmental agents, just like the rest of us—All of these have come about under bo, who bows to our mixed intentioned allies. (I think he “bows” just a little to far and easily to be over looked as other than he claims he is). All the Administration should be held to the same laws that are enforced on the lessers of we the people. THEY ARE NOT. THEY GIVE THEMSELVES GOLDEN PARACHUTES, LINE THEIR POCKETS, FORGET THE JUDEO CHRISTIAN ROOTS OF OUR COUNTRY. There is a “slap in the face of our troops” everytime obama opens his filthy mouth. I WANT OUR COUNTRY BACK. Follow Ben Carson–and even if you are indignant about “the Donald” WE CANNOT TAKE ANOTHER ROUND OF UNCONSTITUTIONAL FAILURES TO ENFORCE OF THE 10TH AMENDMENT FOR STATES RIGHTS, KILLING LIVE BORN BABIES FOR PARTS IN LATE TERM ABORTION, THE CHALLENGE OF THE 2ND AM. WHICH DOES N-O-T EXCLUDE CCW, A RESTORATION OF THE SEPARATION OF POWERS, AND LISTENING TO THE AMERICAN PEOPLE. I so much agree—but we the people have been usurped. I expect a righteous military coup against any administration not following the USC. no. i do no longer celebrate “independence day”. It has become a joke–except for the military and their families who see what is happening. bo is a very distasteful joke

      • Such virulent spouting of hate is offensive and un-American. Hatred has never been an effective way to solve problems.

        • Thank yoU for saying that Carolyn………… Hate is not a word in MY vocabulary..nor a practice of mine…….. I despise that word~!!~
