Authorities are searching for suspects in an armed carjacking that took place early Tuesday morning in Maplewood, according to police.

At around 1:45 a.m., in the area of Lyndover Place and Sutton Boulevard, a man near his car was approached by four subjects β€” one he identified as a man in his 20s β€” Maplewood Police Sgt. Matt Nighbor said Tuesday.

The man in his 20s pulled a pistol on the victim and demanded that he give him his money. The victim ran for a second but was shoved to the ground.

The victim was struck in the face multiple times, possibly with the firearm. During that time one of the suspects took the keys out of one of the victim’s pockets, then they drove away with his car, a Ford Focus.

The victim suffered not life threatening injuries but had to seek medical attention. β€œThis is not common to this area, obviously,” Maplewood Police Sgt. Matt Nighbor said.

The car has not been recovered.

  1. I wanted to let everyone know thanks to the police, detectives and everyone involved in finding them . found all 4 with the car. The guy that it happened to is my brother he is doing well now got stitches in his lip and staples in the back of his head. Our family is glad to see that the criminals are locked up where they belong and not hurting another innocent person…..

    • I’m sorry that happened to you. I hope you’re ok. I pray you get justice and they catch the people who did that to you. I’ll pray for you.

  2. I live in the Marjo apartments for years back in the early nineties. How sad that the world has gone to heck. This sickens me.
