For the first time since 2013, food trucks are back at Sunnen Business Park.
Elise Woods with Cozad Real Estate, which manages the Sunnen business park, said that after a trial period in 2012-2013 when Maplewood OK’d food trucks in Sunnen they never changed the laws back.
Woods said when she started the food truck program she emailed City Clerk Karen Scheidt who told her the city will still issue permits. She said food trucks have been operating at Sunnen Business park every Thursday since July. All trucks who participate are licensed through the city of Maplewood.
Food trucks that have visited Sunnen are Seoul Taco, STL BLT, Slide Piece and Sarah’s Cake Stop; Sia’s Italian Ice and Wingnut recently received licenses from the city. Assistant City Manager Anthony Traxler said approximately seven or eight trucks have licenses.
Woods said they’ll continue the program until the weather gets bad.
