Brentwood aldermen, mayor disclose property owned

Brentwood officials this year passed an ordinance requiring all elected officials (mayor and aldermen) to disclose real estate property they own, also any business interests.  Recently it has all been posted on the city website. City administrative directors are also required to disclose property owned and business interests.

  1. Thanks for posting this Doug. I think it is important for residents to know this kind of information.

    Alderman’s decisions could be impacted for personal reasons, so this allows us to have the whole story.

    For example, maybe they vote against new apartments in the area out of concern it could hurt the price they could charge for their rental property since there are more rentals available. Or if they vote for work to be done at or near a property they own, we should know if they are personally benefiting.
