Some area restaurants due to open, some that closed and some just making waves have been in the news lately. Maplewood’s motorcycle shop continues to attract attention too.

The commercial real estate blog, REJ Blog, covers the opening of Tim Hortons in Maplewood on June 23, also some of the players including Show Me Hospitality president, Eric Sigurdson and the Armstong Teasdale attorney who’s playing a role.

Strange Donuts (2709 Sutton Boulevard) announces a web series called “Strange Louis,” to debut on July 1, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports. “Each episode will highlight the people and places that make this city great, and offer some behind the scenes footage into the world of strange,” co-owner Corey Smale told the Post-Dispatch.

Strange Donuts and and Pi Pizza roll out the Caldone, Feast Magazine reports.

Andrey Ivanov, the announced “beverage director” at Reeds American Table (7322 Manchester Road), was interviewed in Black&White Gingham. Reeds American Table is due to open in July.

Red Lotus Spa & Bistro (9737 Manchester, Rock Hill) has closed, and Lampert’s Q-Shack (6900 Noonan, next to OK Used Cars, St. Louis Ellendale neighborhood) has opened with barbeque and Tex-Mex, St. Louis Magazine reports.

Flying Tiger Motorcycles (7231 Manchester Road), and owner Eric Bess (along with Teresa Swanson) makes the first issue of American Made.
