An employee of a Maplewood business hit by a car in Brentwood as she rode her 49cc scooter home after work last month has started a GoFundMe campaign to raise $500 to cover her expenses from the accident.
Lindsey Smith works at the Book House in Maplewood, but hasn’t been able to work since the accident. From her GoFundMe campaign page:
For those of you who don’t know me, hello, I’m Lindsey. I’m a recent college graduate with a teaching degree, a lover of all things quirky and geektastic, and I work at the best local book store in St. Louis, The Book House.
On July 29th I was I my way home from work, riding my green 49cc scooter when another vehicle improperly merged into my lane and we collided. I don’t really remember the accident. In fact I barely remember that day at all. I suffered a pretty severe concussion, as well as a few other injuries. I would put up pictures, but they’re not the prettiest things to look at. My scooter is totaled, I’m out of work while I recover, and to top everything off the accident occurred just over a week before I was set to move from my current residence!
I heard that the day the doctor cleared Lindsey to go back to work at The Book House she was offered a teaching job, which is what she really wants to do!
Lindsey is being extremely modest and doesn’t like to ask for anything. She really needs much more than $500 (Which is barely enough to cover her rent this month) She needs downpayment on her new apartment, living expenses, therapy and transportation costs, food, everything. We are not sure when she will be able to come back to work, and any insurance settlement will take months to receive. She needs help right now to get back on her feet. Please help any way you can.
