The Brentwood High School Debate Team began the school year with three nationally-ranked debaters: Cole Mayfield, Jonathan Duffe-Holmes and Austin Koster. All three have qualified for the national competition this year, according to team coach, Robyn Haug.

The following students qualified to state competition:
- Jonathan Duffe-Holmes – triple qualifier in debate, extemp, and duet acting – district champion
- Austin Koster – triple qualifier in debate, extemp, and duet acting – district champion
- Da’Jah Mosley – dramatic interpretation
- Alex Patton – humorous interpretation – district champion
The following students qualified to national competition:
- Jonathan Duffe – Holmes – public forum debate
- Austin Koster – public forum debate
- Cole Mayfield – public forum debate
- Seamus Saunders – public forum debate
