Brentwood, Maplewood college students honored

Two area college students were recently recognized for excellence.

Mariah Logan, a sophomore from Brentwood at McKendree University, was initiated into Chapter 378 of Phi Eta Sigma national honor society on Academic Excellence Day, April 24, according to a release from the university. Phi Eta Sigma is the nation’s oldest and largest multi-disciplinary honor society for first-year college and university students.

Logan is also a member of the Avidity Independent A Winter Guard at McKendree, which won a silver medal at the Mid Continent Color Guard Association finals for a second consecutive year. Logan is a psychology major.

William Reece, a senior from Maplewood at Missouri Baptist University, has been inducted into the Chi Pi chapter of Kappa Delta Pi, an international honor society in education that fosters excellence in education and promotes fellowship among those dedicated to teaching, according to a release from the university.

Reece was also recently inducted into Alpha Chi, a national coeducational honor society that promotes and honors academic excellence and exemplary character among university students. Reece is majoring in secondary education and social sciences.
