The Brentwood mayoral candidates, Patrick Toohey, Mark Wilson and Chris Thornton (ballot order) are arranging to have the League of Women Voters candidate forum video taped, and possibly uploaded to the city YouTube channel, according Wilson, who copied 40 South News on an email on Friday that went to the candidates and members of the board of aldermen.

The forum will be on March 18 at the Brentwood School District Conference Center (1201 Hanley Industrial Court) beginning at 7 p.m. 40 South News is the co-sponsor along with the League of Women Voters.

Some residents had asked for the forum to be recorded and posted on the city website, such as aldermen meetings are, but City Administrator Bola Akande said no, because it’s not a city event.

Wilson said the candidates “have worked out the logistics, are taking care of associated costs, and are working with Brentwood administrative director, Bola Akande in order to hopefully make this content available on the Brentwood YouTube channel.”

Wilson said they’ll find a way to deliver the video to residents on a tape delay basis, whether or not it’s on the city website. He said details will be made public as soon as possible.

Update: Editor’s note: Though candidate, Mark Wilson told 40 South News of the candidates’ plan for video, all three have been active in various stages of planning for the forum. They want to “move past who gets credit for what, and rather focus on what we as a body are accomplishing for the residents of Brentwood,” one said in an email to 40 South.

  1. The candidates want to “move past who gets credit for what” — editor’s note now following article.

  2. S – Yep – it seems to have worked out for the best, but I still have my thumb on it, to make sure 40 South is covered.

  3. I am disappointed Chris Thornton isn’t recognized in this article as the one who took the initiative to get this accomplished. So, I would like to take this opportunity to thank CHRIS THORNTON for recognizing the importance of having the debate videotaped, making it available for everyone to see. Thank you, Chris Thornton, for reaching out to the other candidates suggesting and offering to split the cost to have this done. And, thank you, Chris Thornton for reaching out to Dan Duffy, a Brentwood resident/business owner and arranging for Dan to do the taping.
I find candidate Chris Thornton definitely has the interest of the residents in mind!
