Brentwood Chief of Police Dan Fitzgerald makes these posts on his informational department website, The Chief’s Desk.

Thursday morning, the Brentwood Police and Fire Departments staged a mock traffic accident involving a DWI driver.  The re-enactment took place in front of Brentwood High School with the students watching on the front lawn.

Brentwood students were involved, representing the occupants of the two vehicles.  Everything was done as it would in a real DWI accident and arrest.

Afterwords, the students assembled in the auditorium for a film further describing the consequences of choosing to drive under the influence. The assembly was highlighted by a talk presented by Kelly Penrod, who works with MADD, speaking to students. She described in detail an accident in 1983 that killed her best friend and severely injured Kelly. The accident was caused by a drunk driver.

Thanks to the Brentwood students for their help, and for being a respectful audience.  We hope something you saw or heard today can influence a decision you make in the future regarding driving under the influence.
