The owner of some of the properties damaged in the fire Monday morning in downtown Maplewood, Rob Birenbaum, reported on the damage.

On a comment on a previous post on the fire, Birenbaum said The Crow’s Nest (7336 Manchester) sustained minor smoke damage and opened around noon on Monday. Penzeys Spices (7338 Manchester) had some smoke and water damage and should re-open soon.

He said he will re-build so Harmony Health and Healing (7342 Manchester, second floor) can return. The massage business has started an online fundraiser to help them get back to business. They intend to operate temporarily out of a different space while their space on Manchester is rebuilt.

Boogaloo and Shanti Yoga both had some smoke damage but Birenbaum said he couldn’t speak for them — they’re not his tenants — but said he suspects they will reopen soon.

“Thanks to the Maplewood Fire Department and other neighboring companies for their quick and effective response!” Birenbaum said.

Maplewood Fire Chief Terry Merrell said the fire started in a utility room in the area of some electrical equipment, and that that will take some time to determine a definitive cause.
