Cops: Larcenies at Maplewood Commons

The following information was supplied by the Maplewood Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Monday, Sept. 7

  • Police were dispatched to a Maplewood Commons business for a larceny in progress. Upon arrival police learned that three adult female suspects had stolen approximately $150 in miscellaneous clothing items. Following a short area canvass, all three suspects were located and found to be in possession of all reported stolen items. All suspects were arrested for stealing under $500.

Tuesday, Sept. 8

  • Police were dispatched to a Maplewood Commons business for a larceny in progress. Upon arrival, police made contacted with store security who said that he had seen one adult male suspect steal approximately $500 worth of electronics. Upon locating the suspect, police were able to locate all reported stolen items. This investigation was later presented to the St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office who issued one count of stealing over $500.
  • Police located a suspicious unoccupied vehicle parked in the 2600 block of Lyle Avenue.  Investigation revealed that the vehicle had been reported stolen by the St. Louis City Police Department on Aug. 29. The vehicle was towed from the scene and will later be processed by area detectives.

Wednesday, Sept. 9

  • Police were dispatched to a Maplewood Commons business for a larceny in progress. Upon arrival police found an adult male suspect to be in possession of approximately $22 worth of reported stolen merchandise. The suspect was later arrested for stealing under $500.
  • Police were dispatched to a Maplewood Commons business for a larceny in progress. Upon arrival police located two adult male suspects in possession of approximately $80 worth of reported stolen tools. The suspects were later arrested for stealing under $500.

Saturday, Sept. 12

  • Police began an investigation involving a motor vehicle accident in which a vehicle had left the scene. The victim’s vehicle suffered rear bumper damage. The suspect vehicle make/model is unknown at this time. This investigation is still ongoing.

Saturday, September 26, the Maplewood Police Department will be participating in the National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day. The National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day aims to provide a safe, convenient, and responsible means of disposing of prescription drugs, while also educating the general public about the potential for abuse of medicine.
