“Pit bull mix” bites another dog: police

The following information was supplied by the Maplewood Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Monday, March 30

  • Police arrested a 34-year-old man for stealing approximately $150 in merchandise from a business in the 7300 block of Manchester. The suspect was also charged with giving false information to an officer for lying about his identity.  When police discovered the suspect’s true identity, a records check revealed he was wanted for multiple warrants including a felony warrant through another jurisdiction.
  • Police arrested a 25-year-old woman for shoplifting merchandise from a Maplewood Commons business.
  • Police arrested a 37-year-old man for shoplifting merchandise from a Maplewood Commons business.

Tuesday, March 31

  • Police arrested a 23-year-old man for assaulting his girlfriend in the 2400 block of Laclede Station Road.
  • Police arrested a 38-year-old man for stealing approximately $170 in merchandise from a Maplewood Commons business. The suspect was also charged with resisting arrest when he fled on foot from officers attempting to apprehend him. A records check indicated he was wanted for a probation/parole violation. Due to the suspect’s prior theft history, police will be seeking felony charges through the St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorneys Office.
  • Police arrested a 46-year-old man and a 36-year-old man for stealing merchandise from a Maplewood Commons business. One of the suspects involved in the theft was wanted by this agency for a failure to appear warrant.

Wednesday, April 1

  • Police are investigating the theft of $5,500 from a residence in the 7500 block of Flora. The theft occurred between March 29 and April 1.
  • Police arrested a 47-year-old woman for shoplifting merchandise from a Maplewood Commons business.

Thursday, April 2

  • Police arrested a 23-year-old woman for shoplifting merchandise from a Maplewood Commons business.
  • Police arrested a 33-year-old man and 25-year-old woman for assaulting one another in the 2100 block of Bellevue Avenue. They knew each other, and were involved in an argument that escalated into a physical confrontation.
  • Police arrested a 32-year-old woman for stealing approximately $195 in merchandise from a Maplewood Commons business.
  • Police arrested a 38-year-old man for shoplifting merchandise from a Maplewood Commons business.
  • Police arrested a 31-year-old woman for stealing approximately $195 in merchandise from a Maplewood Commons business.

Friday, April 3

  • Police responded to the 2100 block of Bredell Avenue for a reported dog bite call. The reporting party said while walking her two dogs in the area of Williams and McCready, a pit bull mix charged at her and her dogs. According to the reporting party, the dog attacked her Labrador which subsequently suffered multiple injuries. The reporting party’s dog succumbed to the wounds from the attack and had to be euthanized. The following day police located the dog at a residence in the 2000 block of Bland.  St. Louis County Animal Control was notified of the incident and took custody of the pit bull. An investigation is being conducted. Update: The owner of the dog picked up said St. Louis County Animal Control returned his dog to him because they got the wrong dog.
  • Police arrested a 18-year-old man and a 17-year-old man for shoplifting merchandise from a Maplewood Commons business.
  • Police arrested a 31-year-old woman for stealing approximately $400 in merchandise from a Maplewood Commons business.
  • On 4-3-15, police arrested a 40 year old female for shoplifting merchandise from a Maplewood Commons business.
  • An air conditioning unit valued at approximately $1,500 was stolen from an apartment complex in the 2600 block of Roseland Terrace.

Saturday, April 4

  • Police arrested a 28-year-old man for stealing approximately $160 in merchandise from a Maplewood Commons business.

Sunday, April 5

  • Police arrested a 41-year-old man for shoplifting merchandise from a Maplewood Commons business.
  • Police arrested a 50-year-old man for drinking in public after responding to the 7700 block of Manchester for this same male suspect urinating in public.
