A fire that began in the kitchen of Asador Del Sur restaurant in Maplewood (7322 Manchester Road) around 9:30 p.m. Saturday night, eventually spread to the roof of the 2-story building. There were no injuries, according to reports. Mutual aid came from at least ten area departments, as reported by Maplewood Mayor Barry Greenberg on Facebook, as a precaution to prevent the fire spreading to other buildings on the block, which it did not.

Firefighters arrived as flames erupted from the kitchen in the back of the building.
Soon the kitchen exhaust fan caught fire.
Firefighters used a ladder truck from the Webster Groves department to access the roof.
After breaking windows firefighters doused the second floor.
