As previously reported, Gus’s World Famous Fried Chicken is planning to open its first St. Louis location in Maplewood at 7434 Manchester Road in the spring.
Gus’s will offer dine-in, carryout and catering at a 68-seat Maplewood restaurant. Diners can expect fried chicken meals, fried green tomatoes, baked beans, greens, mac-n-cheese, fried pickles and pies. Local beers will be offered as well, according to Sauce Magazine.
Franchise co-owner Jane Zimmermann told Sauce that Maplewood fit a lot of the criteria they were looking for. “It’s a thriving area,” she said.

Gus’s World Famous Fried Chicken and Calliope Massage Studio (7346 Manchester Road) are on the Maplewood Planning and Zoning agenda for Wednesday, March 4 at 7 p.m.
McDonald’s is not on the agenda. The company’s lawyers requested a continuance, and is now set to present at the April 1 plan and zoning meeting.
I’m not buying any Gus’s until they commit to hemp plates and cups! I don’t care if styrofoam can be re-cycled and it will help this franchisee pay her bills! Hemp or nothin’.

Foundation Grounds deserves our gratitude and admiration for their commitment to using compostable containers for their takeout food. I learned on my last visit there that even their clear plastic drink cups and lids are compostable. Amazing!
Food looks great, but I agree Styrofoam doesn’t look like our family’s style.
