Maplewood police: car scratched, credit card stolen, woman lied to officer

The following information was supplied by the Maplewood Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Monday, Nov. 25

  • A car was reported scratched with a sharp object on the driver’s side front and rear doors in the 7500 block of Manchester Road.
  • Multiple unauthorized transactions were made via the internet. When a woman discovered her her account was overdrawn, she checked her purse and noticed her wallet was missing.  She believed she lost her wallet, containing the credit card, in the 2200 block of Yale Avenue on Nov. 22.
  •  A 48-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of stealing approximately $170 in property from two separate Maplewood Commons businesses.  Police apprehended the suspect behind one of the businesses.  A warrant was issued through the St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for felony stealing – third offense.  The suspect is being held at the St. Louis County Justice Services Center on a $15,000 bond.

Tuesday, Nov. 26

  • An officer stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation in the area of Bruno and Alameda. The female driver, she  told the officer she did not have her driver’s license on her person and therefore verbally provided the officer with her name.  Through further investigation, the officer discovered that the female driver had lied about her name.  After learning the real identity of the driver, a records check indicated she had a revoked driver’s license and  she was wanted by Maplewood police on a failure to appear warrant for driving while revoked.  In addition, she had seven active traffic warrants through other jurisdictions. The woman was also charged with giving false information.
  •  A 26-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of stealing merchandise from a Maplewood Commons business.

Wednesday, Nov. 27

  • A 28-year-old man was arrested in the 7800 block of Cutlass Walk on domestic assault charges stemming from a disturbance involving his girlfriend.
  •  A 22-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of shoplifting approximately $150 in merchandise from a Maplewood Commons business.
