A ‘cat cafe,’ called Mauhaus, is set to open in the St. Louis area next year, and a Maplewood connection was recently announced on Twitter — Traveling Tea (@TravTea) will develop a special tea for the cafe.

Traveling Tea owner Kateri Meyer said by email that she is excited to be asked to be part of the creation of St. Louis’s first cat cafe. Meyer said she love cats and supports Tenth Life Cats and St. Louis Feral Cat Outreach in whatever small ways she can.

“I’ve been wanting to create another blend (she already has one) that contains catnip and other ingredients that a cat might encounter…such as violet leaves, and donate a portion of sale proceeds to cat charities. It was fun, and simpler for me, to have the Mauhaus Four help sample various ingredients and develop the final blend.” She said the tea name is still pending.

The first sample of the new tea will be available at a Tenth Life Pop-up Kitty Cafe from 5 – 9 p.m. on July 29 at Tenth Life’s location at 3202 Cherokee Street.
