A Maplewood shop is moving to a Brentwood location. The Miriam Switching Post is moving from 2171 S. Big Bend Boulevard to 292 Hanley Industrial Court by late summer or early fall, according to the St. Louis Business Journal.

The shop is 60 years old, and has been at it’s present location since 1999. The new spot will give the Switching Post an extra 3,000 square feet of space.

“We were in the old location for 16 years. We had really grown out of it,” executive director, Andy Thorp told the Business Journal.

The store sells home goods and antiques on consignment and sends all its proceeds to the Miriam School, which serves 800 students with special needs at its school in Webster Groves and at 20 area charter schools.

The group will invest about $350,000 in building out the new store, which at one time housed a roofing company.

  1. FYI, the Miriam Switching Post is NOT a consignment shop, according to a staffer I spoke with today. People donate goods to the shop, which sells them to benefit the Miriam School.
