Robata, a sushi bar, is moving to the former Church's Chicken.

Our part of St. Louis has four of 15 of the “most anticipated St. Louis restaurants for 2015” according to St. Louis magazine.

They’ve all been in the news.

  • True Sites Alaskan Bistro and Dinner Theater, An Alaska-themed restaurant and dinner theater to open in the former Blind Tiger spot in late February.
  • Robata, A popular sushi, ramen and yakitori restaurant on S. Grand for 10 years, plans to open in the former Church’s Chicken location in February.
  • Athlete Eats, A nutritionist for St. Louis pro athletes opened his first restaurant on Cherokee Street. The second is planned for an undisclosed location in Brentwood in the spring.
  • Tim Hortons, The Canadian chain is set to open its first St. Louis-area location in Maplewood, next to CVS Pharmacy on Big Bend.

A Chinese restaurant, St. Louis Kitchen, also hopes to open in the former Dots store, at the east end of the Shop ‘n Save mall. This hasn’t yet passed city council.

Also, McDonald’s met with residents about opening a new restaurant on the southwest corner of Manchester and Big Bend, and met with lots of resistance. McDonald’s was scheduled for the city’s planning and zoning meeting Monday but has postponed, with no announced plans.
