It has been a joy and honor to meet so many neighbors over the past three months during my campaign to serve on the MRH Board of Education. I’m a mom of two high school students, a college professor at SLU, have lived in the district since 2013, and have been volunteering in our schools and community for several years. I love MRH and I don’t take this decision or the commitment that follows lightly. I am seeking to serve this community
because I, like so many others, am tired of division and distrust distracting our leaders from the essential work of teaching our kids, supporting our teachers, and being wise stewards of district resources.

Since January, I have knocked on hundreds of doors and met with dozens of people in one-on-one meetings and small gatherings in neighbors’ homes. I have utilized digital platforms to learn from neighbors about issues that matter to them and to fulfill my commitments to transparency, accessibility, and accountability. I have had meaningful in-person conversations with past and current board members, teachers in every building, school level administrators, educational support staff, and central office employees. I have studied educational policy at the federal and state level and reviewed the entirety of MRH’s current policies and resolutions. And I’ve maintained my active volunteer commitments in the district, all while raising my kids and working full-time. In short, I’ve done my homework, kept my promises, understand the time commitment this position requires, and strongly believe that I can serve on our Board with integrity, wisdom, and resolve to prioritize kids, teachers, and community.

But this election isn’t about me. It isn’t about any candidate. It is about community. It is about who is invited into and represented in decision-making. It is about being neighbors and caretakers of each other and our shared resources. I believe the best way to achieve our common goals is to have a Board of Education composed of directors who do not represent small blocs but instead represent all neighbors and whose only allegiances are to students and the extraordinary people who have dedicated their lives and livelihoods to their education.

I am asking for your vote on April 7 because the future of public education is under attack and we need strong leaders who are committed to protecting our students and teachers while building on the extraordinary foundation of MRH’s innovative approach to educating all students.
